Where to Watch Navy Pier’s 4th of July Fireworks

After spending your 4th of July barbequing and watching parades, you’ll want to watch some things explode. This year’s fireworks display at Navy Pier is brought to you by Miller Lite. In addition, the Pier will have a fireworks display every week of summer. The festivities will be set off at 9:30 PM when it’s dark enough for their fiery reflections to bounce off the surface of the lake. There is never a better time to start planning where you’ll watch those bombs bursting.

Navy Pier

If you can make it before the pier reaches capacity, then feel free to enjoy the full extent of the pier while being up close to the show. If you are lucky you might get to ride the Ferris wheel during the display.

Local Parks

Close to the pier are the Polk Bros Park, Jane Addams Memorial Park, and the Milton Lee Olive Park. Bring some blankets and settle down on the grass with a cooler and some friends.

Boat Tours

You can bet that almost every boat tour company in Chicago will have a 4th of July Booze Cruise. There is nothing like gently drifting down a river watching fireworks with a cool drink. Be sure to make reservations in advance.

Local Beaches

The Ohio Street Beach and the Oak Street Beach are both great for the show. Colorful explosions crack off the lake, illuminating the dark water, all while being accompanied by the calming sound of waves crashing on the shore.

Not many people can claim to have seen a firework explosion from above, but you can if you go here on the 4th.  Grab some food and drinks from Bar 94 while you watch the show. You might want to buy tickets in advance.
