Art lovers and community members will be gathering on Nov. 14 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Necessary & Sufficient Coffee in Printers Row for One Hot Inch, a unique, collectible art experience.
The Scoop
Curated by artists Chris Bentzen and Jim Hoehnle, One Hot Inch transforms small-scale art into buttons created by more than 20 local artists, sparking fun interactions and friendly trades as guests hunt for their favorite designs. Each limited-edition button showcases the artists’ diverse talents in a tiny, yet vibrant, medium.
How it Works
For $5, attendees can purchase a bag containing five randomly selected buttons. The element of surprise makes it exciting. Strike up a conversation and start trading with others to build a complete collection of your most-desired buttons. As you trade, you’ll be joining a tradition that’s long been a favorite in Canada and the Pacific Northwest.
Why It Matters
One Hot Inch is more than just button-collecting. It’s about connecting Chicago’s local artists with the community and fostering relationships through interactive art. As Necessary & Sufficient Coffee curator Kate Vrijmoet notes, the event gives people a chance to engage with art in a fresh, approachable way.
