Can you think of any better way to kick off a cold Chicago day than a piping hot breakfast? February is National Hot Breakfast Month and we plan on celebrating at our favorite local spot.
Yolk has been a Chicago staple since 2006, when Taki Kastanis founded his first Windy City restaurant. Over the years, Yolk became popular with locals and tourists alike and the Zagat rated establishments have won numerous awards, including the ‘Concierge Favorite Award’, and Citysearch.com’s ‘Best Breakfast’. Yolk was voted the ‘#1 Breakfast’ by Fox News viewers in Chicago and featured on the cover of Dining Out Chicago Magazine.
In 2019, Yolk’s K.F.B. (Kentucky Fried Bacon) Bits won the Golden Rasher Award for ‘Most Creative Use of Bacon’ at the Bacon Fest. These delicious bites consist of smoked pork belly in a panko breadcrumb crust with a bourbon glaze and blueberry barbecue sauce. The K.F.B. bites were created at Yolk’s Test Kitchen in Bucktown, an innovative space for Yolk to create new dishes and allow the community to leave constructive feedback.
The Menu
The Yolk menu literally has something for everyone. Looking for something savory: try the Countryside Skillet with potatoes, bacon, ham, sausage, mushroom, onion, green pepper, cheddar, and two eggs any style, with a side of country sausage gravy.
Do you have a sweet tooth? Order the Red Velvet French Toast (red velvet cake with swirls of cream cheese, dipped in the secret Yolk batter, grilled, and topped with strawberries and whipped cream) or the Pancake of the Month!
Not sure what to order? Then you should definitely go for the All Star Combo, and try a little bit of everything. Don’t forget to order one of their specialty coffees, teas or juices to complete your breakfast.
