The Cubby Bear

Chicago’s beloved baseball teams’ openers are just around the corner. The Sox will be at Guaranteed Rate Field on March 28 to take on the Detroit Tigers. The Cubs play the Colorado Rockies on April 1 at Wrigley Field. Here is our guide for how to spend game day with restaurants and activities around the ballparks.

CORK & KERRY AT THE PARK

The neighborhood pub located on 33rd and Shields by Guaranteed Rate Field has an inviting atmosphere for game-day fans. Try the signature Southside Irish Burger with Irish bacon, Dubliner cheese, coleslaw, and egg. Cork at the Park also offers quesadillas, Irish fries, and cheese curds. Top it all off with a renowned Guinness pour, or a selection of beers and cocktails.

35TH STREET RED HOTS

Down the street from Sox Park, the tiny 35th Street Red Hots is a prime place for a quick, simple pre-game meal. The place offers traditional Chicago hotdogs topped with fries. Their burgers are celebrated for their crispy, caramelized patties and special sauce.

CHISOX BAR & GRILL

Near Guaranteed Rate Field’s Gate 5, ChiSox Bar & Grill serves delicious wings, nachos, and “Grand Slamwiches.” The bar also has a great selection of beers and hard seltzers. Open three hours before the first pitch of Sox game days, ChiSox Bar & Grill is a prime pre-game location.

WRIGLEY FIELD TOURS

Wrigley Field offers guided public and private tours up to 90 minutes of all that the Chicago Cubs’ home has to offer. Depending on whether there is a game that day, guests will be taken through a special itinerary of various spots in the legendary ballpark. Public tours start at $30 and children under 2 get free admission.

THE CUBBY BEAR

The Cubby Bear has been one of Wrigleyville’s top spots for a drink before or after every Cubs home game for more than 70 years. When the team is on the road, stop in to watch it on one of the TVs or check out a performance from a local band. Located diagonally across the street from the stadium’s famous marquee, the sports bar is an iconic location for Cubs fans.

MURPHY’S BLEACHERS

Right outside of the Cubs stadium and within earshot of the famous Bleacher Bums, this Cubs haven has some of the best local beer paired with an award-winning menu. As a bonus, its walls are lined with sports memorabilia. Come before a home game to mingle with fans and experience the team’s rich history.

Marquee Sports Network and Circa Sports Illinois Watch Parties

The exclusive Chicago Cubs broadcasting network Marquee Sports is teaming up with the sports betting brand Circa Sports Illinois to host six exciting watch parties this season at Murphy’s Bleachers and American Place. The kick-off event will take place on April 10 at Murphy’s Bleachers, complete with game-day bites, giveaways, and opportunities to meet Marquee Sports Network personalities.
