Summer isn’t over yet, and exciting events are headed to Chicago this August! We are seeing more in-person events scheduled, and while some of our favorite in-person events cannot be held this year, many are going virtual. Find out which events you can be a part of in-person or from the comfort of your own!
August 7-9
Ru Paul’s Drag Race stars are back on stage and headed to Chicago for Drive ‘N Drag! Watch these glamorous drag queens safely from your car at Soldier Field. Tickets are limited and selling quickly. You don’t want to miss this one of a kind event!
August 9th
Lincoln Park Zoo Breakfast with the Animals
Join the animals of Lincoln Park Zoo for breakfast in-person or from the comfort of your own home! During this session, participants will learn about what it takes for veterinarians to care for the animals at Lincoln Park Zoo. Due to Covid-19, meals must be pre-ordered. Buy tickets here.
August 15th
The Oak Park Mirco Brew Review will be held virtually this year, but you will still get the chance to support local breweries and raise funds for Seven Generations Ahead— an environmental non-profit that works to promote healthy and sustainable communities. With your ticket you will receive 15 local craft beers, 2 festival tasting glasses, and access to the online event.
August 29th
The Square Roots Festival will not be held in person this year, but you can still support this great charitable event by tuning in to the online concert on August 29th. Packages with food, craft beer, and artisan goods will be available to pre-order from local businesses in Lincoln Square for you to enjoy from home.
Monday nights in August
Head to Navy Pier on Mondays for Movie night! This year’s lineup includes classics like Casablanca and family favorites like Coco. The screen is located in Polk Bros Park and has a beautiful view of Lake Michigan behind it. Pre-order dinner from Harry Caray’s and make a night out of this free event!
Tuesday nights in August
Free Outdoor Fitness Classes at Navy Pier
Take in views of the Chicago skyline and get fit at Polk Bros Park! High intensity rush hour workouts will be held each week from 6 pm to 7 pm; sunset yoga will follow from 7:30pm to 8:30 pm. Whether you’re in the mood to get sweaty, decompress, or both, Navy Pier has you covered!
Friday nights in August
Summer Jazz in Chicago: Water Colors
Navy Pier’s free outdoor jazz place will continue through August 21st on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. The concerts will take place at Polk Bros Park. Please keep in mind that safety measures are put in place to ensure social distancing.
