<h1>West Fest <br /></h1><p>There is something for everyone at West Fest, the Chicago street fair that reflects the eclectic persona of its West Town environs. The annual two-day party features live cutting-edge music and mixes on three stages, a family fun area, pet activities and a multitude of booths from popular neighborhood restaurants and retailers. </p><p>West Fest is all about local bands playing their original music. This year West Fest welcomes homegrown powerhouse LOCAL H – hot off their latest album, Twelve Angry Months, to the main stage on Saturday night; while Chicago blues-alt-rockers Red Red Meat close things out on Sunday. </p><p>Live music on the main stage begins at 1 p.m. both days and includes:<br /><br />LOCAL H<br />Red Red Meat<br />Richard Edwards Of Margot & The Nuclear So And So’s With Brian Deck<br />The 1900’s<br />Mucca Pazza<br />Aluminum Group<br />The Vulgar Boatman<br />Liquid Soul<br /><br />Live mixes on the Lava DJ stage begin both days at 4 p.m. and feature Derrick Carter among many others. <br /><br />West Fest features a plethora of neighborhood boutiques, restaurants and fine artists who set up temporary shop along Chicago Avenue – offering deals on everything from designer duds to fresh dishes and ice-cold drinks. This year there’s also the West Fest Fashion show put on by Soko Fashion and Chicago Avenue Salon. <br /><br />West Fest’s Pet Fest and Kid Fest (both located in designated areas within West Fest) are always big draws. Kid Fest features: the all-new Adventure Stage Chicago family stage (Wolcott & Rice) with kid-friendly music and performances (from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. both days), pony rides, stroller parades, a bounce house, face painting, mad scientist demonstrations and more. Pet Fest features exclusively pet-related vendors and sponsors, plus pup activities such as bathing pools, mobile grooming, and the Westfester Mutt Show – a spoof doggie beauty contest with prizes for all mutts (at noon both days).<br /><br />There is a $5 donation requested for admittance to offset the costs of the event and to benefit the West Town Chicago Chamber of Commerce and West Town’s Commercial Park.
