Brasserie Jo, which is a marriage between acclaimed chef Jean Joho (who also is chef-proprietor at four-star Everest) and Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, features a menu of Alsatian fare and French regional classics and perfectly complimented by an equally international and exquisite selection of beers and wines.
The main dining space looks like a Parisian brasserie with a zinc bar and a 1940s-style mahogany and marble dining room with Art Deco accents. Murals and other decor are spot on with French tastes and styles, setting a comfortable and classic ambiance for all guests.
Beers are offered with as much variety in size as origin. The house draft is Hop La, brewed in Wisconsin, but most of the others derive from across the Atlantic; Kronenbourg 1664 (France), Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock (Germany) and Monks Cafe Flemish Sour Ale (Belgium) are some of the European drafts along with 750 ml bottled Fantome Saison (Belguim) and Brasserie Lebbe Farmhouse Ale (France).
The wines are just as illustrious, covering the back of the menu with vintages spanning the globe. Pulling from vineyards in Alsace, Loire, Burgogne, Rhone, Australia as well as domesticly grown, Brasserie JO can pair any number of excellent wines with a chosen cuisine.
Look for choices like onion soup, mussels in Riesling sauce, steak frites and chocolate mousse. Hot and cold appetizers offer a taste of the extraordinary flavors to come, such as the entrees prepared du jour like the veal weiner schitzel or the lobster and seafood bouillabaisse, offered respectively on Tuesdays and Fridays.
